Greater Manchester Public Protection Partnership shortlisted for Beacon status
Greater Manchester Public Protection Partnership is shortlisted for Beacon status under the theme of ‘Cutting Red Tape – delivering real economic and social benefit through better regulation’. Our Stage 1 scores were excellent.

Clive Grace, the chairman of award sponsors Local Better Regulation Office, said:
“The Beacon awards are the Oscars of local government and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and its partners can be very proud about getting to this stage. To be shortlisted in the cutting red tape category recognises that not only are they protecting consumers, workers and the environment from irresponsible or rogue traders, they are providing high quality support to law-abiding businesses – getting rid of unnecessary bureaucracy and red tape and making often complex laws easier to understand and comply with.”

Staff representing all aspects of Greater Manchester Public Protection Partnership, Members, Business Regulation Solutions, service providers and service users, all took part in the Stage 2 Assessment Visit on 24th November. The next and final assessment will be a presentation in London on 14th January, then it’s fingers crossed until the Awards on 3rd March 2009.
