Who should attend?
The course is aimed at non-clinically trained staff who are administering medication.
What are the aims of the course?
The course is designed to familiarise delegates with the main classes of medication used, why and how they may be used, and the various side effects that may be encountered.

The course covers:
- Principles of safe and appropriate handling of medicines
- Handling medicines in social care settings
- Handling medicines - requirements for specific services
- The medicines toolkit
- Choice and consent
- Obtaining supplies of medicines
- Administration of medicine
- Storage of medicines
- Record-keeping.
The course is adapted based on client and care setting need.
There is a short multiple choice examination at the end of the course. Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate.
