Level 2 Award in Food Safety
Who should attend?
Anyone working with or around food who requires a good understanding and knowledge of food safety. Anyone working with food is legally required to have some form of training in food safety. This course is a nationally recognised course.
What are the aims of the course?
To give candidates an appreciation of the fundamentals of good food hygiene practice. It is intended to provide a basis for more advanced studies in all aspects of food hygiene.
What is covered on the course?
The course will include a variety of presentations covering the following topics:
- Legislation
- Food safety hazards
- Temperature control
- Refrigeration, chilling and cold holding
- Cooking, hot holding and reheating
- Food handling
- Principles of safe food storage
- Cleaning
- Food premises and equipment
At the end of the course all candidates will sit a short multiple choice examination. Following the course examination papers are sent to the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health for marking. Successful candidates will receive the nationally recognised Level 2 Food Safety in Catering qualification.

The course lasts one day.
