Who should attend?
People who are responsible for carrying out the fire risk assessment at their premises. Those identified as the ‘responsible person' in their workplace. Previous experience of risk assessments is not required.
What are the aims of the course?
This course is designed to provide participants with the required knowledge and skills to enable them to carry out a fire risk assessment.
What experience, skills and knowledge does the course leader have?
Paul Dryden has gained a wealth of operational and fire safety experience working for Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service. Paul helped develop the new fire safety legislation and wrote the Guide to complying with it for the government. Paul advises inspectors on auditing fire risk assessments and enforcing legislation.
What is covered on the course?
The course consists of a mixture of presentations and workshop exercises. It covers the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, with particular emphasis on the role of the ‘responsible person', their requirement to produce a fire risk assessment and ensure their staff are adequately trained. Delegates will be shown a step-by-step process for conducting fire risk assessments and given the opportunity to use this process to carry out a fire risk assessment under guidance.
How long does the course last?
This is a one day seminar. Refreshments and lunch are provided.
